The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced former Executive Director/CEO of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Faisal Shuaib, as the winner of the Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone’s primary elections conducted by the party on May 18.

The Returning Officer of the APC Primary Election Committee (National Assembly) for Nasarawa State, Musa Shuaibu Guri, made the announcement on Wednesday in Keffi.

He said the primaries were peacefully conducted and transparently observed in all the local government areas, which included Keffi, Toto, Nasarawa, Kokona and Karu, adding that the candidate polled 98614 votes through an affirmation process.

He appreciated Abdullahi Sule, the governor of the state, for the enabling environment and cooperation the committee enjoyed in the discharge of its responsibility.

Speaking to newsmen, the acting director-general of the Dr Faisal Shuaib Campaign Movement, Yusuf Omaki, commended the western zone stakeholders for their continued confidence in Dr Shuaib to serve them well in the nation’s parliament, promising to justify the confidence he was reposed with.

He acknowledged the importance of bringing all contenders during the primaries closer for reconciliation to chart a formidable cause in the general elections.

Omaki said the former health institution’s boss has the competence and global sense to invest hugely in the zone, the Nigerian people and the parliament, urging the stakeholders to sustain their collaboration and cooperation beyond the primary election for collective development.

It would be recalled that Dr Faisal had indicated interest to contest for the governorship ticket of the state but eventually stepped down for Governor Abdulahi Sule’s preferred choice, Senator Aliyu Wadada.
