NNEWI — Former Minister of Transportation, Prince John Okechukwu Emeka, and the Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Pius Okoye, have separately called on constituents to support their bids for seats in the National Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), ahead of the party’s forthcoming primaries.
Prince Emeka, who is seeking to represent Anambra North Senatorial District, made his appeal during a stakeholder engagement with APGA leaders in the district held at Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area.
The meeting brought together local government chairmen, women leaders, youth leaders, and party executives at both ward and local government levels.
Speaking at the event, Emeka urged unity and loyalty within the party, stressing the need for collective effort to secure victory in the primaries. He noted that APGA had continued to strengthen grassroots participation across the state.
He also pledged to serve with integrity if given the mandate, describing himself as experienced and well-positioned for effective representation.
“I will operate an open-door policy. My commitment to staying connected with the people and responding to their needs is total,” he said.
“I remain accessible and transparent, and I will ensure that constituents are actively involved in governance.”
Emeka also expressed appreciation to party leaders for their efforts toward the growth of APGA, describing their commitment as essential to the party’s progress.
In a separate engagement in Awka, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Pius Okoye, who is contesting for the Awka North and South Federal Constituency seat, made a similar appeal during a meeting with a political pressure group, Anambra Patriots, held at the APS National Secretariat, Awka.
Okoye said he was seeking to provide improved representation for the constituency at the National Assembly, expressing concern about current levels of representation and assuring constituents of better performance if elected.
He noted that a number of wards in Awka North, which he currently represents in the State House of Assembly, had expressed support for his ambition, and urged wider backing from Awka South.
Earlier, the convener of Anambra Patriots, Chief Okey Ezeobi, an architect, said the group operates across wards in the state and engages aspirants to assess their intentions and capacity.
“We stand for good governance. We assess aspirants when they come and listen to what they can offer the people,” he said.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the group, Chief Ejiamatu Damian Enekwechi, said the engagement was not an endorsement but an opportunity for aspirants to present their plans.
“We are not here to endorse the Deputy Speaker. We want to hear from him what he can do for the people he wants to represent,” he said, adding that the group would consult widely before endorsing any candidate.
