Ebuka marks birthday with outreach to 700 inmates at Ogwashi-Uku custodial Centre

The Chief Executive Officer of Petrokem Estate Solutions, Mr. Peter Okeleke Ebuka, celebrated his birthday with a humanitarian outreach to over 700 inmates at the Ogwashi-Uku Custodial Centre in Delta State.

The visit saw Ebuka distribute assorted food items, toiletries, and cash donations to inmates across the facility.

The initiative was aimed at providing immediate relief, fostering a sense of inclusion, and reminding the inmates that they remain part of the wider community.

Speaking during the outreach, Ebuka said the decision to spend his birthday with the inmates was deliberate and personal.

“Birthdays are moments of reflection and gratitude. I felt it was important to share this day with people who often feel forgotten.

My prayer is that this small gesture brings comfort, hope, and a reminder that life beyond these walls is possible,” he stated.

He further noted that the outreach aligns with Petrokem Estate Solutions’ commitment to corporate social responsibility and community engagement.

According to him, businesses have a responsibility to contribute to the welfare of society, particularly for vulnerable and marginalized groups.

Officials of the Ogwashi-Uku Custodial Centre received the delegation and expressed appreciation for the support.

A senior officer at the facility noted that such interventions help ease the pressure on the centre’s resources and boost the morale of inmates.

“We are grateful to Mr. Ebuka and Petrokem Estate Solutions for remembering our inmates on his special day.

Acts like this give hope to those here and encourage them to look forward to reintegration into society,” the official said.

Some of the beneficiaries also expressed gratitude, describing the visit as uplifting and unexpected.

Many noted that the food items and cash support would help meet immediate needs and provide encouragement during their time in custody.

The outreach marks one of several community-focused initiatives undertaken by Petrokem Estate Solutions under Ebuka’s leadership.

The company has previously supported educational, health, and empowerment programs across Delta State as part of its corporate social responsibility mandate.

Ebuka concluded by calling on other private sector actors and well-meaning individuals to support correctional facilities and reintegration programs.

He emphasized that sustainable rehabilitation requires collective effort from government, civil society, and the private sector.

“Rebuilding lives does not end at sentencing. It requires consistent support, dignity, and opportunities.

I hope this visit inspires more people to give back,” he added.
