As part of efforts to promote healthy food options in Nigeria, CIBA hospitality limited has launched the Terra Delyssa extra virgin olive oil brand from Tunisia into the Nigerian market.
The oil is produced from a blend of Chemlali and Chetoui olives, with Chemlali serving as the dominant variety.
Terra Delyssa was founded in 1996 by CHO Group, a major integrated player in the olive oil industry with operations spanning branded products, private label and bulk production. The company’s end-to-end control of operations from cultivation to bottling is designed to ensure quality, traceability and sustainable growth.
Speaking at the product launch, the Executive Director of CIBA Hospitality Limited, Dr. Ade Adegbite, disclosed that the oil comes in different variants, including Smooth Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Lemon, Garlic and Chili Pepper flavours.
According to him, the blend delivers a unique flavour profile while preserving the rich qualities of Tunisian olive oil and ensuring consistent quality.
Adegbite described Terra Delyssa as a global virgin olive oil brand with a growing international presence.
“The product is a Tunisian brand that is no longer made only for Tunisians. It has become a global brand with footprints in more than 50 countries around the world,” he said.
He added that the product is currently the number one-selling olive oil brand in Canada, ranks second in France, is among the top three in Sweden and is the fourth best-selling olive oil brand in the United States.
“That tells you it is one of the fastest-growing olive oil brands globally,” Adegbite added.
He noted that the brand’s heritage dates back more than 300 years, describing it as a trans-generational asset of Tunisian origin that has gained international recognition.
“We are pleased to bring this product to Nigeria through our trading arm, CIBA hospitality limited, which is the sole distributor and marketer of the brand in Nigeria,” he said.
Adegbite explained that the company is initially targeting the premium segment of the Nigerian market to build awareness of the product’s quality and health benefits before expanding into the wider consumer market.
He said the company expects consumer attitudes toward olive oil to improve as more people become aware of its nutritional and cooking benefits.
The company has also outlined a distribution strategy focused on supermarkets and shopping malls, including Justrite and SPAR, while also leveraging e-commerce platforms and direct sales channels to deepen market penetration.
According to him, Lagos and Abuja will serve as the first phase of the rollout before expansion to other parts of the country.
“At Terra Delyssa, transparency is at the heart of everything we do. Every bottle tells a story, from the careful harvest in our groves through meticulous milling and analysis to the final bottling,” Adegbite said.
He added that consumers can scan the QR code on each bottle to trace the product’s journey from orchard to table, giving them direct access to information about its heritage, quality and authenticity.
