Brigadier Ally’s daughter joins 2027 Reps race

Antonia Agbede-Ally, daughter of the late Brigadier Godwin Ally, has entered the race for the House of Representatives seat for Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwarra Federal Constituency in Cross River State after purchasing the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form.

Her entry marks a significant development in the constituency’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections, with stakeholders already anticipating a closely contested race.

Agbede-Ally, a social entrepreneur, philanthropist, and public official, is known for her community-focused initiatives in healthcare, education, and youth empowerment.

She said her ambition is driven by a desire to deepen grassroots development through legislative action.

“My father served this country with his life, and I have spent the last decade serving our people through philanthropy,” she said. “The time has come to take that service to the floor of the House of Representatives so the voices of Obanliku, Obudu, and Bekwarra are not only heard but acted upon.”

She added that her experience in the development sector positions her to deliver impactful representation, noting her leadership of the HOW Foundation, where she spearheaded interventions for vulnerable groups.

In 2025, she also launched the Agbede Foundation in Obudu, focusing on vocational training, healthcare support, and educational assistance for underserved communities.

Political observers say her combination of public service legacy and development experience could shape voter perception as the race gathers momentum.

Agbede-Ally holds a degree in Business Management and Marketing from Brunel University, London, and previously worked in sales and marketing before transitioning into the development sector.
