The Arewa Youth Assembly has expressed support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, while calling for unity within the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, the group said maintaining cohesion within the party and the Progressive Governors Forum was crucial to the stability of the APC ahead of the next general election.

The group also reiterated its support for the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, commending his leadership role within the forum and his backing for Tinubu’s administration.

Addressing journalists on behalf of the assembly, Mohammed Aliyu Sanni urged party stakeholders to avoid actions capable of creating divisions within the APC, warning that internal disagreements could weaken the party’s chances in future elections.

The group stressed the need to respect the existing political understanding on power rotation between the North and South, insisting that the South should be allowed to complete its tenure before power returns to the North in 2031.

The assembly referenced recent political developments within the APC and cautioned against any move that could destabilise the party structure or create friction among governors.

While mentioning Governors Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and Peter Mbah of Enugu State in its remarks, the group called for reconciliation and dialogue among party leaders in the interest of unity and democratic stability.

The Arewa Youth Assembly further urged APC members and supporters across the country to remain committed to the party and support efforts aimed at strengthening internal cohesion ahead of the 2027 elections.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition, describing the president as a leader deserving of continuity beyond 2027.
