Member representing Odogbolu State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Lukman Olalekan Adeleye, has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the 2027 general elections after recording a landslide victory at the party’s primary election held on Wednesday.
The primary, which was conducted under tight security and peaceful atmosphere, followed earlier consensus arrangements within the party that led to the voluntary withdrawal of several aspirants in the interest of unity and cohesion.
Adeleye, who is seeking re-election into the State House of Assembly, was subsequently declared winner amid cheers from party members and supporters across Odogbolu Local Government Area.
Speaking shortly after the announcement of the result, Adeleye described his emergence as a collective triumph for the APC family in Odogbolu, stressing that the exercise was a “no victor, no vanquished” affair.
According to him, “this victory belongs to the entire APC family in Odogbolu. What we have witnessed today is a demonstration of maturity, discipline and commitment to the peace and progress of our great party.”
He commended leaders and members of the party for their resolve to sustain harmony ahead of the general election, noting that the peaceful conduct of the exercise reflected the strength and unity within the APC in Ogun State.
The lawmaker also expressed gratitude to the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, for his leadership and commitment to peace within the party.
“I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun, for his exemplary leadership and fatherly role in ensuring peace and stability within our party,” he said.
Adeleye equally lauded Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola for his unwavering support and guidance, describing him as a pillar of encouragement to party faithful across the state.
He further praised aspirants who stepped down from the contest in obedience to the directive of the governor and party leadership, saying their actions underscored loyalty, sacrifice and dedication to party supremacy.
Among those who withdrew from the race are Hon. Ola Olufunmilayo, Hon. (Dr.) Seun Sokan, Hon. Atinuke Bello, Hon. Adeniji Wasiu, Hon. Dennis Ogunaike, Hon. Adetayo Moshood, Hon. Ilusanya Folabomi, Hon. Ogunbanwo Jumoke, Hon. Adenuga Eniade, Hon. Buraimoh Ismail, Hon. Adeniyi Sheyi (Imole De), Hon. Adenugba Ireti, Hon. Aranse and Hon. Kazeem Sulaimon.
According to Adeleye, “Their sacrifices and commitment to the unity of the APC will never be forgotten. History will remember them for their patriotism, maturity and dedication to the growth of our party and Odogbolu constituency.”
He also appreciated APC leaders, elders, stakeholders, ward executives, youth and women groups, as well as party loyalists across Odogbolu Local Government for their trust and support.
The lawmaker pledged to continue delivering inclusive representation, quality leadership and grassroots development to all communities within the constituency if re-elected.
