A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, Hon. Bisi Yusuf, has dismissed reports alleging that he was planning to defect from the party, insisting that he remains committed to the APC and its progressive ideals.
Yusuf, a former Lagos lawmaker and Director-General of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu 2027, GMT, described the reports as false and misleading, saying he had no intention of leaving the APC for any other political platform.
In a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, the APC apex leader in Alimosho said it became necessary to clarify his position in order to avoid misinformation among party members and residents of the constituency.
According to him, “I wish to state categorically and without ambiguity that I remain a loyal, committed and dedicated member of the APC.
“I have never held any meeting, directly or indirectly, with the ADC, NDC or any other political platform regarding defection from the APC.”
Yusuf said his political history within the progressive movement in Lagos State remained consistent over the years, noting that he had been part of the political family from the days of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, through the Alliance for Democracy, AD, Action Congress, AC, Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and now the APC.
He added that his political career had always been guided by loyalty, service and commitment to democratic ideals.
“My political journey and democratic credentials are well known to the people of Lagos State and Alimosho in particular. I have remained consistent within the progressive family over the years, serving diligently and loyally in different capacities,” he said.
The former lawmaker further stated that he remained fully aligned with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and committed to the success of the APC at all levels.
“I firmly believe in internal democracy, party supremacy and the collective progress of the APC above personal interests,” Yusuf added.
He urged party supporters and members of the public to disregard the reports of his alleged defection, describing them as misleading.
“Alimosho must continue to stand united, focused and progressive. We must not allow divisive narratives to distract us from the continued growth and stability of our party,” he said.
