By Dayo Johnson Akure
Hon. Adeola Taoheed Musa, an All Progressive Congress aspirant for Owo Constituency 2 in the Ondo State House of Assembly, has rejected the outcome of the party’s primary election that declared Funke Aruna winner, insisting he won across all wards.
In a statement issued in Akure, Musa, popularly known as ATM, said results and evidence in his possession show he secured an overwhelming victory in the primary held in Owo. He alleged attempts to manipulate the outcome in favour of another contender.
Musa said that “The mandate freely given to me by party members must be respected in the interest of justice, fairness, and peace within the party,” he said,
He warned that any move to alter the result could trigger unrest among party loyalists.
The aspirant said only he and Hon. Morenike Witherspoon were physically present for the election, and that INEC officials, security personnel, and Owo Local Government Party Executives witnessed the process and collation at Oke-Mapo, where he was declared winner.
He questioned why Funke Aruna’s name was announced in Akure, contrary to party guidelines and what was declared in the constituency.
Musa called on the party leadership to uphold transparency and due process, and urged supporters to remain calm while awaiting the party’s final decision.
According to him “to frustrate my supporters, election materials for the primary were hoarded, in spite of that, loyal party members massively voted for him.
” Only my election was witness by nigeiria security, INEC officials and Owo local government party leadership.
“This no doubt give credibility to the primary that produced me as the winner”.
Musa further said that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Owo Local Government Party Executives were present at the collation centre where he was declared winner of the primary election.
“I won the primary election convincingly in all the wards. I have credible evidence to prove my victory and any attempt to declare another person winner against the will of party members won’t stand, ” he stated.
He added further that, the votes of Owo Constituency 1 was counted at Oke Mapo in the presence of the INEC and party officials, likewise Constituency 2 but surprisingly, Funke Aruna was pronounced winner in Akure as against the party guidelines.
” I was surprise to see the name of Funke Aruna flying around as the winner of the primary as against what was declared in the Constituency.
“Her name was slotted in as the winner by the power that be at the State Capital but one thing I can assure my supporters is that, that illegality won’t stand”.
“The real winner was announced at Oke-Mapo, contrary to the one announced in Akure.
He declared that “The fake result can’t stand. It was led by Omolayo the suspended local government chairman, this is a person that ordinarily can’t walk freely in Owo.
“This is a person that insulted our respected kabiyesi Olowo of Owo, nobody can take my mandate away from me”.
He appealed to the leadership of the party to remain transparent and uphold the integrity of the electoral process, stressing that APC members in Owo expect fairness and due process.
Musa also called on supporters to remain calm and law-abiding while awaiting the final decision of the party. End
