For over 200 years, “Keep Walking” has meant more than a slogan for Johnnie Walker. At this year’s AMVCA, the brand lived it out by spotlighting the people and collaborations pushing African creativity forward.
As one of the sponsors of the awards show, the brand shaped a consistent narrative of celebration, legacy, and cross-cultural exchange across the entire AMVCA season.
The presence began at Icons Night, the pre-ceremony tribute honouring Nollywood’s most enduring figures. Aligned with the “Keep Walking” philosophy, Johnnie Walker framed the evening as a tribute to progress, legacy, and the persistence behind building something lasting. The guest list alone told the story before a word was spoken.
That engagement carried through AMVCA week, with brand Blue Label, Black Label, and Blonde integrated into key category sponsorships and award moments. But it was Johnnie Walker Black Label’s role on Cultural Day that stood out. Now one of the most anticipated AMVCA events, Cultural Day brings together actors, musicians, designers, and digital creators who show how African storytelling extends far beyond the screen. The brand used the platform to spotlight collaboration across creative disciplines, reinforcing that African creativity doesn’t fit into a single lane.
Johnnie Walker also made a deliberate play for the creator economy. Content creator Elozonam Ogbolu, nominated for Best Digital Content Creator, represented the brand throughout the week, a nod to the reality that Africa’s leading storytellers now work as much on smartphones as they do on film sets.
Beyond the awards, the brand’s AfroExchange platform continues to build spaces for African creativity, collaboration, and cultural exchange to thrive long after the cameras stop rolling.
The season closed with Blue-42, an exclusive after-party co-hosted with Don Julio. It marked the first time two of the world’s top premium spirits brands collaborated to honour African talent and culture. The event brought together filmmakers, actors, industry leaders, and tastemakers, with bespoke cocktails from expert mixologists adding another layer of sophistication to the weekend.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to showing up for consumers in moments of celebration, recognition, and shared cultural pride,” said Ifeoma Agu, Group Head of Culture, Influencer and Advocacy, Diageo South, West and Central Africa.
