There was pomp, applause and widespread commendation in Abuja as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, was honoured with the Nigeria Union of Journalists, FCT Council’s prestigious Crime Fighter of the Year Award for his contributions to policing, crime prevention and public safety in Nigeria.

The award, regarded as one of the most respected recognitions within Nigeria’s security and media landscape, was presented to the senior police officer by former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, during a colourful ceremony attended by top government officials, security chiefs, media executives and stakeholders from various sectors.
The event also witnessed the recognition of several distinguished personalities, including Azu Ishiekwene, Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, and former President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Christopher Isiguzo.

Speaking during the presentation, organisers described Jimoh as a policing strategist whose operational leadership and commitment to institutional reforms have continued to strengthen public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

The honour comes amid growing commendation for the senior police officer’s intelligence-led policing approach, public relations expertise and contributions to modern policing reforms within the Force.

Widely respected in policing and media circles, Jimoh has built a career spanning more than two decades in operations, investigations, administration, international peacekeeping, public relations and command responsibilities.

Born on August 10, 1971, in Ilorin, Jimoh enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on May 1, 2000, after obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University.

His professional development profile includes specialised trainings in South Korea, China and Nigeria in areas such as crime prevention, anti-hijacking tactics, maritime rescue operations, SMART government systems, leadership ethics and law enforcement management.

Before his elevation to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Jimoh served as Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police, Eastern Ports Command, Port Harcourt, and later as Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command.
