Accord Party: Daramola, others emerge candidates in Lagos

The Accord Party in Lagos State has concluded its candidate selection process ahead of the 2027 general elections, producing candidates for various elective positions across the state.

The exercise, conducted under the leadership of the state chairman, Lanre Ogundare, was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), including representatives of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Electoral Officers and members of the commission’s legal department.

According to the party, candidates emerged through a consensus arrangement for 10 local government chairmanship positions, 18 State House of Assembly seats, 12 House of Representatives constituencies, three senatorial districts and the governorship race.

Among those selected was Hon. Idowu Daramola, who emerged as the party’s candidate for the House of Representatives.

Speaking after his emergence, Daramola pledged to pursue policies aimed at improving the welfare of residents and promoting development in his constituency if elected.

He also expressed appreciation to the party’s leadership and members for their support, while pledging to work towards the party’s success in the forthcoming elections.

Daramola said he was optimistic about the party’s prospects in the 2027 polls and expressed confidence in his ability to attract voter support.

Speaking at the event, Ogundare said the successful conduct of the selection process demonstrated the party’s readiness for the next general election.

He noted that the Accord Party remains committed to internal democracy and providing equal opportunities for aspirants seeking elective positions.

“Accord Party is a unified party and we stand for unity. These primaries further give credence to our belief in democracy,” he said.

Ogundare also expressed confidence in INEC’s ability to conduct credible elections and said the party was preparing to compete strongly across the positions it will contest.

Daramola was later presented with his Certificate of Return by the state chairman at a ceremony attended by party leaders, delegates, supporters and political associates in Lagos.
