A presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Malam Sagir Auwal Maidoya, has said he is willing to step down for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, while urging stronger unity within the party.
Maidoya, a member of the APC from Maiburuji Ward in Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State, made his position known in a statement issued on Friday, where he reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and its leadership.
He described the All Progressives Congress as “a stabilising force in Nigeria’s democratic journey,” noting that it has continued to promote governance through its Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Beyond political ambition lies an even greater obligation—unity of purpose. A united APC is a stronger APC,” he said.
The aspirant called on party leaders, stakeholders, and members at all levels to strengthen internal cohesion and deepen engagement with Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections.
Maidoya said his presidential aspiration is driven by a desire to contribute to national development and the growth of the party, adding that he is prepared to make personal sacrifices, including stepping down, in the overall interest of party unity and national progress.
“The road to 2027 must be guided by a shared vision—one party, one purpose, one Nigeria,” he added.
He expressed confidence that with greater unity and discipline, the APC would position itself strongly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
