The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, has elected a new State Executive Committee, re-electing Shakirat Adeyemo as State Chairman and appointing Abiodun Abari as the new State Secretary.

Abari will be supported by Halima Abdulrafiu as Assistant Secretary.

The election was held on Monday at the ECWA Multipurpose Hall on Montgomery Road, Yaba, under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Other members of the newly elected State Executive Committee are Gabriel Iwatamaye (Deputy State Chairman), Akeem Kolapo (State Organising Secretary), Ayodele Kazeem (State Publicity Secretary), Tajudeen Olalekan (State Treasurer), Aminat Yusuf (State Woman Leader), Zainab Adeyemo (State Youth Leader) andCaroline K. Ademiro (State Legal Adviser) amongst others.

At the zonal level, Alhaji Tajudeen Oyinloye was elected Vice Chairman for Lagos Central, Chief Nurudeen Awolumate for Lagos West, and Segun Okutade for Lagos East.

The Congress followed successful Local Government Area congresses held across all 20 LGAs in Lagos, all duly monitored by INEC.

The newly elected State Executive Committee members were sworn in after taking the oath of allegiance to the party and Nigeria.

Reacting to the outcome of the exercise, APM Lagos Governorship Candidate, Prince Laja Adeoye, congratulated the new executive and urged them to discharge their duties with integrity, dedication, and the fear of God.

Adeoye said: “Lagos is winnable. All hands must be on deck as we prepare for the 2027 general elections.”
He expressed satisfaction with the smooth and peaceful conduct of the Congress and expressed optimism ahead of the primaries and consensus affirmations scheduled for Thursday this week.

Adeoye commended the national leadership of the party under Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, as well as APM governors, notably Engineer Seyi Makinde of Oyo State who is the party’s Presidential Candidate, and Senator Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, for their unwavering commitment to principled opposition politics at a time when others opted for the ruling APC.

He expressed confidence that the new leadership will galvanize support across Lagos State and deliver strong electoral performance for the APM both in Lagos and across Nigeria in 2027.
