Oladele John Nihi, a continental youth leader of Kogi State origin, has said Yahaya Bello’s senatorial ambition should not be viewed as a contest restricted to Kogi Central Senatorial District.
In a statement personally signed on Monday, Nihi said Bello’s aspiration represents a broader political agenda aimed at strengthening the overall interest of Kogi State and improving its influence within the national political structure.
He described Bello as one of the most prominent political figures to emerge from the state in recent years, noting that his political experience, national connections, and emphasis on youth inclusion set him apart as a leader with influence beyond regional lines.
According to him, the state requires stronger representation at the national level to boost visibility, attract development, and ensure active participation in key policy discussions, adding that Bello’s presence in the National Assembly would help achieve these goals.
He argued that the former governor’s years in office reflected policies that encouraged youth participation, supported women inclusion, improved infrastructure, strengthened security efforts, and promoted unity across diverse groups in the state.
Nihi urged citizens of Kogi State, regardless of political or ethnic affiliation, to see the ambition as a collective cause that would benefit the entire state rather than a sectional interest.
He further appealed to young people to support the project, saying it offers an opportunity to deepen political awareness, unity, and leadership development among the youth population.
He added that continued support for leaders who prioritise youth empowerment remains essential to building a stronger future for Kogi State within Nigeria’s political system.
