The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday declared Chief Toyin Amuzu as its flag bearer for the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Amuzu emerged unopposed during the party’s primary election held at the PDP State Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, with party leaders and members unanimously endorsing his candidature.
The motion affirming Amuzu’s adoption was moved by Mallam Bola Taiwo from Constituency 1 and seconded by Alhaji Isa Orunsolu from Constituency 2, following what party members described as widespread acceptance of his candidature.
Accreditation of delegates from the 15 wards in Abeokuta South Local Government Area was conducted by Mr. Adebayo Lateef from Ewekoro Local Government and Mr. Lateef Olowu from Ifo Local Government.
The exercise was supervised by Prince Akeem Ade-Balogun of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who served as the Electoral Officer for the primary election.
Security operatives from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Department of State Services (DSS) were also on ground to ensure a peaceful and transparent process.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Amuzu expressed gratitude to party leaders, members and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, promising to deliver quality and people-oriented representation if elected.
He pledged to focus on impactful legislation and constituency projects capable of transforming communities across Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.
According to him, his representation would be anchored on inclusiveness, accountability and grassroots engagement.
“I will ensure full inclusion of citizens by facilitating legacy projects that directly reflect the needs of the people at the grassroots,” Amuzu said.
“The communities themselves will determine their developmental priorities, while I facilitate both government-backed and personal intervention projects that will positively impact their lives.”
The PDP candidate further assured residents of effective representation through quality lawmaking and execution of projects with direct benefits for the masses.
Party faithful and supporters at the event described his emergence as a major boost to the PDP’s chances in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 elections.
