The South-West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA) has declared that President Bola Tinubu’s interventions saved Nigeria from total collapse in 2023.

It’s National Chairman, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, said that without Tinubu’s courage and bold decisions, Nigeria would have descended into hyperinflation and total bankruptcy.

The group, which mobilized support for Tinubu’s election, said that Tinubu’s reforms have provided resources for all tiers of government to function effectively.

Adeyeye who led the group now relaunching as SWAGA 2.0, stated this during a thank-you visit to the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade, cited achievements in infrastructure, education, housing, and military welfare as reasons for backing Tinubu’s second term.

Others members of the group include
the National Secretary, Bosun Oladele; Executive Director of Corporate Services (EDCS) at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Oyetunde Ojo; Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Federal Housing Authority, Ayo Omidiran; Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, among others to Ondo State.

Adeyeye noted that previous candidates, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, recognized the need for subsidy removal, but Tinubu had the courage to act.

The chairman told the monarch and the people of Akure that the group had been vindicated following its early support of Tinubu when no one took the movement with seriousness.

According to Adeyeye, the country was living on borrowed time under the previous administration.

Still on subsidy removal, he said that even former President Muhammadu Buhari had declared he could not continue subsidy payments.

Adeyeye hailed Tinubu for the courage to “take the bull by the horns” and put Nigeria back on its feet, a decision he emphasised has provided resources for all three tiers of government to effectively function.

According to him ” If not for some key aspects of policies of Tinubu, I don’t know where Nigeria would be now.

” I want to assure you that by now, Nigeria would have been completely bankrupt. Maybe a litre of fuel would be selling for over 10,000, because you don’t even have the money to import it.

“Now, you have NELFUND in the universities. And all of them can go and access it. People are feeling this effect at the local level. All the masses are feeling it.

Also, speaking, SWAGA Convener and Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Federal Housing Authority, Oyetunde Ojo, said the assignment of the group would be easy considering the performance of President Tinubu since he assumed office three years ago.

According to him, the issuance of passports, which was a challenge, has been resolved, while student loans have been reactivated to help indigent students.

He said the removal of subsidies from petroleum products has made many state governments richer than they were in the years past.

Ojo said many people are joining SWAGA because of the development the President has brought to the country.

In his remarks, the Deji of Akure, the Ondo State capital, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, said the people of the town will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because of the development brought to the town since he assumed office in 2023.

Aladelusi, said the appointment of a substantive Minister from Akure extraction and the establishment of a Teaching Hospital are some of the reasons the people of the town would support him.

According to him the establishment of an Aviation school in Akure and the appointment of three cabinet members are the reasons for supporting the reelection of President Tinubu.

“What other state capitals have been taken for granted? We just had our teaching hospital a year ago.

“If you take out Lagos and Ibadan, Akure is next in population. And yet we don’t have a federal teaching hospital. We don’t even have a state.

“When President Tinubu came to Baba Fasoranti’s house, I said, ‘We don’t have a teaching hospital, and he promised we would get it.”

The monarch said that since the tenure of Oba Olu Falae during the military, Akure has not produced a substantive Minister until the appointment of Ayo Olawande by President Tinubu.

“On the second term of Tinubu, I don’t know anybody competing with him. That is why I said he will turn around this country in his second term.

Oba Aladelusi said “With what President Tinubu has done for Akure, the second term is assured. The person coming after him in five years will continue from where he stopped.”
