President Tinubu

A sociopolitical group, Ndigbo for Tinubu 2027 Forum (NDI-ABAT), has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to adopt strategic measures ahead of the 2027 presidential election, including the appointment of key political figures to lead his prospective re-election campaign.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and Secretary-General, Dr. Ugwuoke Ugwuoke Jr., the group cited what it described as emerging opposition realignments as a reason for early preparation.
The forum alleged that a former governor of Anambra State may be considering leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for another political platform ahead of the election. It, however, noted that there has been no official confirmation from the politician or the party regarding the claim.
According to the group, internal disputes within the ADC could be a contributing factor, suggesting that such developments may form part of broader opposition efforts to consolidate ahead of the polls.
NDI-ABAT also referenced ongoing legal disputes surrounding the leadership of the ADC, stating that the outcome of court proceedings could significantly influence the party’s future direction. However, it did not provide independently verifiable evidence to substantiate its claims on the alleged defection or coalition plans.
As part of its recommendations, the group urged the President to consider appointing prominent political allies, including Nuhu Ribadu, Dave Umahi, Nyesom Wike, and Bello Matawalle, to coordinate his campaign structure.
The forum maintained that such appointments would enhance nationwide coordination and minimise the risk of internal discord as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
