The Police at Zone 13, Ukpo, Anambra state have spread their dragnet in search of a suspected retired general in the Nigeria army alleged to be involved in forgery of land documents and threatening to eliminate an Nsukka based business man and rightful owner of a landed property in the area.

The action of the police followed a petition by the business man; Kenechukwu Ben Onah dated 3rd February, 2026 alleging amongst other things: threatening of life, obtaining by false pretext, false information and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace against one Chief Samuel Asadu of Umakashi community and Ezea Dickson Tochukwu.

In the petition, the business man while lamenting that his life was in great danger alleged that he was being traced by unknown gang on a Toyota Corola car on January 25th, 2026 at Army Barracks’s junction, Nsukka at about 4.30pm as he was coming from his landed property opposite Special Science School, Nsukka. According to him, the suspects were four in the car, including the driver.

He said he could identify one of the suspects who were pretending to be urinating at the scene but he was monitoring him to do the pointer work for the suspected assassins. “Hence my passionate report to police authorities for independent and discreet investigation especially with the incessant killings by assassins in the country.”

Tracing the genesis of the matter, the visibly frightened business man stated: “I bought a plot of land in Umakashi community and all the necessary documentations’ and clarifications including genuine signatories were contacted and were carried out. It is pertinent to mention that a senior citizen and retired officer at Nsukka Fire Service and a retired commissioner of police witnessed the signaling of the agreements. However, the suspects woke up one day and criminally allocated the sold Umakashi landed property to an unknown, non -existing retired Major General of Nigeria army who claimed to come from from Uzo-Uwani Local government Area of state.

“The forgery in the case is the aspect of the agreement between the non-existing retired Major General and the man that claimed to have bought the land who presently is at large. Police waded into the case swiftly and arrested the former Chairman of Umakashi Community who is also the present chairman of the building materials section in Nsukka market. It was after his arrest that police authorities discovered that the man claiming to be a general in the Nigerian army fake and commenced investigations into his whereabouts.”

Police sources hinted that it was at that stage that the business man petitioned Zone 13 in Awka with a view to unraveling the mystery surrounding the criminal activities of the man faking to be a retired army general while carrying out organized crime in the University town.
