Reactions have trailed a video of Wole Oke saying those who are not in the camp of President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) will bear the consequences of their action.
According to the video, Oke, the director general of the APC campaign team for the August 15, 2026, governorship poll in Osun State, stated this whilst addressing party supporters in his Esa Oke hometown on Wednesday.
The lawmaker, who represents Obokun-Oriade federal constituency in the House of Representatives, said, “Whoever is not in Tinubu’s camp should bear the consequences of his or her action. I won’t say more than that. I am in Tinubu’s camp.”
The video has since sparked reactions from the opposition, who viewed it as a threat to voters ahead of the governorship election in August.
Pelumi Olajengbesi, a chieftain of the Accord Party who shared the video on Facebook, faulted the remark, describing it as an empty threat.
Olajengbesi said, “In Esa Oke, Wole Oke’s hometown, when he was to campaign, all he could do was send empty threat signals to the people.
“Those who use threats to achieve political gains are very weak, insecure and cowardly. And we will gladly prove this in the coming election to Wole Oke that in Ijesaland, the people will vote, and their votes will count.”
Also, a Facebook user, Fawole Tajudeen, said, “No amount of threats can change people’s direction. The campaign of calumny and threats is counterproductive.”
“Osun voters are civil and not blind to development. Empty threats cannot stop the masses from voting,” Aderonke Gbadamosi wrote.
“The power of the masses surpasses all these threats. We shall vote massively to ensure the continuity of good governance in Osun State,” Damilare Adeniyi stated.
Gbenga Ajiboso said, “Resorting to intimidation and fear tactics only shows a lack of genuine connection with the people, but Osun voters cannot be bullied.”
“Any politician who resorts to threatening people with federal or presidential influence only exposes his weakness,” Saheed Junaid stated, while Agboola Eri-Ola called the attention of the police to the video.
In the poll, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, among other contenders, will be challenging Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, who is seeking re-election.
