A teaming registered members of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Ontario, Canada have dismissed what they described as “illegal” incursion of the independent national electoral commission, INEC into the affairs of political parties and called on members in Nigeria to be resolute in voting the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, out of power in 2027.
A statement by Sir Joe Korka-Waadah Executive Director, Compassionate Heart Foundation of Canada and ADC leader in Ontario sent to Vanguard on Saturday, called on the leadership of the party not to be deterred by the “shenanigans” of a “clearly compromised” INEC, but should continue to rally round the party as the only formidable platform to win the next election.
Korka-Waadah however expressed optimism that the former governor of Rivers state, Rt. Hon Rotimi Amaechi is most positioned to clinch the presidential ticket of the party, adding that with his years of experience in the eco-political system, “Amaechi is first among equals”.
According to him, “We have the chance to make it right in 2027. The ADC is the only platform that will deliver the change we need to put Nigeria in the right trajectory that would clear the helplessness, hunger, insecurity that has bedeviled Nigeria as a country under this “inept and clueless” Tinubu’s regime.
“If we don’t get it right, indications are that we may not have the country called Nigeria anymore.
On that note, we need not gamble on who to pick to lead the charge against the APC. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is the man for this moment based on his antecedents and performance as the Speaker of the Rivers state House of Assembly, eight years as governor and eight years as minister”.
Korka-Waadah noted that Amaechi’s achievements are there for all to see. “We need someone that will hit the ground running from day one. ADC electorates, the ball is in your court. Age is on his side, he is highly educated and he has all it takes to bring about the transformation we so desire. He is the only candidate that is loved across the board: from the north, south, east and west”, he said.
The political management consultant explained that Nigerians cannot continue on the part of the presence economic hardship and avoidable insecurity across the country, hence, “the only way out is for ADC to present a formidable and generally acceptable candidate that will engage the ruling APC in 2027.
He said that Nigerians in Canada are solidly behind the candidature of the former minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, adding that the party should avoid the mistake of fielding a weak candidate for next year’s election.
