Nigerian engineer unveils AI App tackling ‘mental clutter’

By Adesina Wahab

A Nigerian Artificial Intelligence engineer based in Germany, Emmanuel Onwubuya, has launched a new productivity app, Ginja, to help users move from mental overload to structured action.

He noted that unlike traditional productivity tools that rely on structured inputs, Ginja focuses on unstructured thinking, adding that its core feature allows users to freely express thoughts through text or voice, which the system then converts into prioritised, actionable tasks.

Onwubuya said the idea was inspired by a recurring gap he observed across existing tools. “Most platforms assume users already have clarity, but many people start from overwhelm. That disconnect is what we are trying to solve,” he said.

He said the app is positioned to address what behavioural experts describe as “task initiation difficulty” the gap between intention and action.

“Beyond individual use, the app also includes a shared planning feature that allows small groups to coordinate tasks and responsibilities without relying on complex enterprise software. It further integrates behavioural insights to deliver reminders at more relevant moments, rather than fixed notification schedules,” he added.

The app, now available on the App Store and Google Play, has attracted over 500 users within its first month without paid promotion, growing largely through word of mouth.

Onwubuya acknowledged that refining how the system interprets unstructured input remains an ongoing challenge. The platform is currently self-funded, with development continuing alongside his full-time role, while additional features such as deeper integrations are in progress.
