Ndemili reconnected after 16-year blackout as Devt projects boost economy in Ndokwa West

Social and economic activities have surged in Ndemili community, Delta State, following the restoration of electricity after 16 years of blackout caused by prolonged power outages.

The development comes alongside a wave of infrastructural projects executed by the Ndokwa West Local Government, aimed at improving living conditions and stimulating growth across the area.

During an inspection tour of the electrification and other ongoing projects, the Commissioner, Directorate of Local Government Affairs, Hon. Prince Kelly Penawou, expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work.

He commended the council leadership and urged the Chairman to sustain the momentum, noting that such projects would have lasting positive impacts on the lives of residents.

Conducting the Commissioner round the sites, the Council Chairman, Chief Obi Nzete, said his administration’s commitment to development was driven by a deep sense of responsibility to the people and a resolve to alleviate their suffering through both human and capital development initiatives.

According to him, the electrification project covered about 15 kilometres within Ndemili town, including the installation of electric poles and four high-powered transformers to ensure steady power supply.

The inspection team also visited several completed and ongoing projects, including the renovated primary healthcare centre at Emu-Obodoeti, the fencing project at Emu-Uno, and the upgraded Ulogwe Isumpe Primary Healthcare Centre.

Other facilities inspected were the Ultra-Modern Town Hall at Etua Etiti, a newly developed cottage hospital with doctors’ and nurses’ quarters, and the legislative complex at the local government secretariat.

Speaking at the end of the tour, Nzete expressed appreciation to the Delta State Government under the leadership of Sheriff Oborevwori, as well as the people of Ndokwa West, for their support in the successful execution of the projects.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining development efforts across the local government area.
