The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has empowered over 2,000 households in Kano State with clean energy solutions under its Sustainable Empowerment Programme aimed at reducing the impact of climate change.

The initiative was launched on Tuesday in Kano, where beneficiaries received clean cookstoves, solar home systems and other tools to improve access to reliable energy, especially in rural and semi urban communities.

Flagging off the programme, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, said the initiative reflects government’s commitment to translating industrial and economic policies into tangible benefits for citizens.

She commended NASENI for promoting local productivity and supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in the areas of industrialisation, job creation and inclusive growth.

She said “Kano’s selection as host for this programme is particularly significant. Historically, Kano has been one of West Africa’s major commercial and manufacturing hubs, with deep strengths in trade, textiles, agro processing, and enterprise.”

In his welcome remarks, Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, Mr Khalil Suleiman Halilu, said the programme provides practical solutions that will improve the quality of life of beneficiaries while supporting cleaner and healthier living conditions.

“What you are receiving today is not just support; it is part of a larger national effort to build a cleaner and healthier Nigeria. This programme is not just empowerment. It is about dignity. It is about improving your quality of life. It is about giving you tools to do more, earn more, and live better. To our beneficiaries: Use these tools wisely. Take care of them. Let them improve your homes and your businesses. Let them support your families and your future”, Halilu added.
