…Pastor says gathering declares gospel beyond preaching
By Juliet Umeh
The LOGIC Church has invited believers and lovers of gospel music to the second edition of its “Jesus + Nothing” Worship Experience, scheduled to hold today, Good Friday, in Lagos.
Addressing journalists ahead of the event, the Lead Pastor of The LOGIC Church, Apostle Flourish Peters, said the worship gathering will take place at 4:00 p.m. at The LOGIC Centre, Plot 115, T.F. Kuboye Street, Lekki.
He said the event is expected to attract believers and gospel music lovers from across the state and beyond.
According to him, the programme is designed as more than a concert, but a proclamation of the Christian message through music, anchored on the belief that the Gospel is not only preached but also sung.
Following its debut in 2025, the 2026 edition is aligned with the church’s annual theme, “Much More,” with a focus on expressing the fullness of the Gospel of Grace through worship.
The event will feature performances by notable gospel artistes, including Timi Dakolo and Nosa Omorogie, alongside international and local ministers such as Emmanuel Smith, Gerald Bishung and MagPsalms. Other ministers billed for the event include Mera Owili, Steve Hills, Pastor Victor Paul, Uche Okereke and Yinka Erinle.
Speaking on the vision behind the initiative, Apostle Peters said: “We are intentional about preserving the purity of the Gospel in every expression. ‘Jesus + Nothing’ is a reminder that Christ is enough, and that this message must not only be preached but also sung. Through this worship experience, we are declaring the Gospel in a way that every heart can receive.”
Peters stressed that the gathering is not a conventional concert but a worship meeting centred on the redemptive work of Christ.
“This is not just about having another concert. This is about insisting on the message of the Gospel. The message must not just be preached; it must be sung. The power of song is such that what people may forget in sermons, they remember through music,” he said.
He further noted that many gospel songs focus broadly on God rather than emphasising the core message of salvation through Christ.
“It is time we move from just preaching the Gospel to singing the Gospel—what God has done in Christ through His death, burial and resurrection,” he added.
The cleric explained that the Good Friday timing of the programme is intentional, as it highlights the significance of Christ’s sacrifice.
“This evening is about emphasising redemption. Most of the songs will centre on what Christ has done for us on the cross. When we sing about redemption, we bring God the same pleasure He had when Christ died for us,” he said.
He described the resurrection as the foundation of the Christian faith.
“Our faith is premised on an empty grave. The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the zenith of our faith and the highest point of the church’s celebration,” Peters said.
Reflecting on the maiden edition held in 2025, he expressed optimism that the initiative would grow into a major spiritual gathering in the years ahead.
“We believe this will become bigger and impact more lives in the years to come,” he said.
He added that beyond worship, the initiative is also aimed at shaping values and encouraging believers to positively influence society.
“Redemption is not for the church alone but for the nation. We must take this message into every space—politics, governance and society—because righteousness exalts a nation,” he stated.
The “Jesus + Nothing” Worship Experience is free and open to the public.
