Hon. Uche Ben Odunzeh, the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 Imo State election, has formally resigned his membership from the party, marking a notable shift in the state’s opposition politics.

In an interview with journalists, Odunzeh described his departure as a “strategic and principled decision,” motivated by resilience, courage, and a commitment to sustainable development, justice, and people-centered leadership.

He clarified that his resignation is not a retreat but a reaffirmation of his loyalty to political ideals focused on progress, sincerity, and national renewal.

Odunzeh stressed that Nigeria’s current challenges require stronger political alignment, deeper ideological commitment, and broader collaboration among opposition forces genuinely committed to rescuing the nation from economic hardship, poor governance, and systemic decline.

He indicated that his next steps will involve forging alliances with like-minded figures to advance a collective vision of growth, equity, justice, and national transformation.

He urged his supporters and associates to remain steadfast, emphasizing that true leadership transcends party platforms and is measured by the courage to act for the people and drive positive change.

Odunzeh reaffirmed his dedication to service, inclusiveness, accountability, and building a Nigeria that works for all.
