Etinosa slams men for denying single ladies access to nightclubs

By Benjamin Njoku

Sultry actress and producer Etinosa Idemudia has spoken out against the unfair treatment of single women who are often denied entry to popular nightclubs simply because they’re alone.

She recalls a personal experience where she was almost barred from a club due to being solo, only gaining access after asserting herself confidently.

The actress expressed concern over this discriminatory practice, highlighting the double standard applied to single women compared to their male counterparts.

“Why are men not facing the same ill-treatment?” she questioned, adding that single women aren’t “OS” (outright singles) just because they’re not with a man.

“I am a one man Mopol and I know there are other ladies like me. I remember in 2014, when I was an engineer surviving a messy marriage. I went alone to clubs to drink and forget my difficult situation. I went to a familiar place to avoid insults. I spent my own money, enjoyed myself and went home.

“When I moved to Lagos to start my acting career, I remember visiting some hot spots alone to chill, but faced the same ill-treatment. I wasn’t a hook up, I just wanted to enjoy music and watch others dance. “I fought and gained access because of my insistence.

“This thing has been going on for so long and I wonder, why are men not facing the same ill-treatment. “Why do they think every girl who is not with a man is an OS. And if they are OS, isn’t it the same men who want them?,” the actress said. Her stance aims to spark change and promote equal access to social spaces for all, regardless of gender or relationship status
