DNKI unveils Widows Welfare Scheme for support, care

ABUJA – IN a bid to ameliorate plight of the vulnerable, De Norsemen Kclub International, DNKI, Thursday, unveiled the DNKI Widows Welfare Scheme for support and care.

The scheme was launched nationwide on the approval of DNKI’s International President, Chief Oliver Ityohegh, which is designed to provide structured support and sustained care for widows of deceased members of the organisation.

The launch of the scheme is in accordance with the leadership’s vision and deep compassion, which the president has given approval to commence implementation of the scheme, saying it is part of the organisation’s broader commitment to social responsibility, unity, and global humanitarian service.

According to a statement e-signed by the International Publicity Secretary, DNKI, Darlington Anugom, the modalities include; Phase One: Immediate Relief and Support – To ensure fairness, inclusivity, and nationwide impact, the first phase of the scheme will involve the distribution of essential relief materials and financial assistance to selected widows across all operational zones of the organisation.

“Beneficiaries will receive: bags of rice, beans, garri and other non-perishable food items and toiletries with cash support.

“The distribution will cut across the following DNKI Zones: Northern Zone, South-West Zone, South-East Zone, South-South Zone, Diaspora Zone (African Countries).

“This phase is aimed at providing immediate relief and cushioning the economic challenges faced by widows, particularly in the face of rising living costs and socio-economic uncertainties.

“Phase Two: Long-Term Empowerment and Sustainability: In furtherance of its commitment to sustainable welfare, the second phase of the scheme will focus on long-term empowerment initiatives, including: Award of educational scholarships to children of deceased members

“Periodic free medical outreaches for widows and their children; Continued welfare monitoring and support programmes. These measures are designed to secure the future of the beneficiaries, promote educational advancement, and ensure access to basic healthcare services, a commitment to compassion and legacy.

“The DNKI Widows Welfare Scheme stands as a testament to the organisation’s enduring pledge to honour the memory and legacy of its departed members by supporting the families they left behind. It is a moral obligation the organisation holds dearly ensuring that the sacrifices and contributions of its members are never forgotten.

“Through this initiative, DNKI seeks to restore hope, provide comfort, and reaffirm to every widow that she remains an integral part of the DNKI family, even as their beloved husbands have gone to rest with the Almighty.

“The leadership of DNKI calls on all members, stakeholders, and well-meaning individuals to support and sustain this noble initiative, as the organisation continues to expand its humanitarian footprint across Nigeria and beyond”, the statement concluded.
