JALINGO — The Jalingo branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has renovated two blocks of classrooms and an administrative office at Howai Government Secondary School in Jalingo, Taraba State, as part of its ongoing education intervention projects.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, CBN Branch Controller Mr. Jonah Haruna said the initiative is part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program aimed at improving educational infrastructure in the state.

Haruna noted that the renovation is one of several projects implemented by the bank in Taraba, including upgrades at the School for the Blind in Jalingo—where hostels were renovated and a generator, mattresses, and other facilities provided—and the drilling and installation of a hand-pump borehole at Government Day Secondary School, Iware, in Ardo-Kola Local Government Area.

“The renovation of these classrooms and office spaces is aimed at creating a more conducive and inspiring environment for teaching and learning. When students are provided with safe, comfortable, and well-equipped spaces, their capacity to learn improves significantly,” he said.

The Branch Controller added that the interventions reaffirm CBN’s commitment to the development of host communities.

In her remarks, Taraba State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin, commended the bank’s efforts, noting that the projects complement the state government’s initiatives to provide basic infrastructure across primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions.

Dr. Godwin also highlighted that the free and compulsory primary and secondary education policy introduced by Governor Agbu Kefas is central to reviving the state’s education sector.
