The Executive Chairman of Guma Local Government Area, LGA, Maurice Orwough has presented vehicles to selected traditional rulers in the area as part of efforts to strengthen traditional institutions and enhance grassroots governance.
The gesture, according to a statement by the Chairman’s Personal Assistant on Communication and Strategy, Ernest Tortiv, is aimed at supporting the royal fathers in the discharge of their duties across the local government.
Beneficiaries of the vehicles include Chief Joseph Ortese, Mbawa District Head; Chief Boniface Ikyanenge, Mbabai District Head; Chief James Abu, Uvir District Head; and Chief Samuel Timbee Uke, Saghev District Head.
Presenting the four vehicles, Orwough emphasized the critical role traditional rulers play in fostering peace, unity, and security within their communities, noting that their contributions remain vital to the stability of the area.
“Traditional rulers play an important role in maintaining peace, unity and security in our communities, and therefore deserve support to help them carry out their responsibilities effectively,” the chairman stated.
He commended the royal fathers for their sustained cooperation with the local government, particularly in addressing security challenges and promoting community development initiatives.
The chairman further called for continued collaboration between the traditional institution and the local government to ensure lasting peace and progress in Guma LGA.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Ter Guma and Mue Ter Ihyarev in Guma, Chief Dennis Shemberga and Chief Augustine Shonyi, expressed gratitude to the chairman for the gesture.
They described the donation as a demonstration of respect and recognition for the traditional institution, noting that such support would enhance their capacity to serve their communities effectively.
“We thank the chairman for this gesture, which clearly shows respect and recognition for traditional institutions,” they said.
The traditional rulers assured the chairman of their unwavering support and commitment to promoting peace, unity, and sustainable development across Guma LGA.
