By Dayo Johnson Akure
Youths supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election have condemned the destruction of campaign billboards in Akure, Ondo State.
The billboards were vandalized at St Peter’s Unity, Road Block, and Airport Junction.
Faloye Olanrewaju Johnson, APC central youth leader, said the act was “criminal” and aimed at suppressing their political expression.
“Surveillance footage has identified those responsible, and we have evidence.
” The group has chosen not to pursue immediate legal action but warns that further vandalism will attract decisive action, including releasing evidence to security agencies and the public.
They urge security agencies to protect political materials and citizens’ rights.
According to them ” in the interest of peace and democratic conduct, we have chosen not to pursue immediate legal action.
” Instead, we will repair and replace the damaged billboards to ensure our message remains visible.
” However, we issue a firm warning: any further acts of vandalism will attract decisive legal action, including the release of evidence to security agencies and the public.
“We call on relevant security agencies to strengthen surveillance and protect political materials and citizens’ rights.
“Our commitment to a peaceful and issue-based campaign remains unwavering, and our support for BTO and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election stands firm.
