AfroGroove artiste, ajofé, recently hosted a private house party in Ikoyi, Lagos, that reflected an ongoing shift in Nigeria’s entertainment landscape, where digital culture and traditional media continue to intersect.

The event, held at a private residence in the highbrow area, drew a mix of influencers, media executives, artistes and industry stakeholders. Among those in attendance were popular TikTok creator, Purple Speedy, and Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate, Jason Jae, alongside other personalities from television, radio and online platforms.

The gathering was coordinated by entertainment distribution platform Plug Centro, with creative input from design duo FunkyPlutoDynasty, known for their work with artistes such as Ycee and Seyi Vibes. Event production also involved Asmau Ibrahim, whose experience spans projects on Trace TV, while Bright Star Creative Media handled content coverage.

Activities at the event included music-based games anchored by Jason Jae, where attendees engaged with both released and unreleased songs from ajofé’s catalogue, including tracks from his forthcoming project, Lucid IV. A resident DJ, Muski, provided music throughout the evening.

A notable feature of the event was a section tagged the “Anti-Farmer Room,” supported by peer-to-peer lending platform Urgent2K. The activation involved guests scanning barcoded cards to reveal cash prizes, after which winners were encouraged to create content linked to the artiste’s music. The initiative highlights how event sponsorships are increasingly tied to digital engagement strategies.

The guest list also included A&Rs, radio personalities and representatives from television platforms such as TVC, WAP TV, Soundcity and RAVE TV, alongside film producers and emerging artistes. Their presence underscored the growing overlap between online creators and traditional entertainment structures.

While styled appearances and influencer participation formed part of the evening, the event pointed to a broader trend in the industry, where private gatherings are being used as controlled platforms for music promotion, audience testing and content generation.
