Zulu drops new single ‘Sing for Me’, preaches kindness over wealth

Fast-rising Nigerian music artiste, Ndika Onuzuluike Chiagoziam, popularly known as Zulu, has released a new single titled Sing for Me, using the track to preach kindness, compassion and a shift from materialism to humanity.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the song, Zulu said Sing for Me was borne out of his desire to change the way people perceive life and success.

According to him, society has become overly fixated on the accumulation of wealth, often at the expense of empathy and communal support.

“Everyone wants to amass wealth for themselves without thinking about the next person. Life is about caring and helping others to be better,” he said.

The artiste disclosed that the message of the song is deeply personal, revealing that he had experienced moments of extreme hardship when he felt abandoned and alone.

“I personally have passed through hard times when I wondered if no one in this life cared. I was at an abysmal level financially, emotionally and otherwise, and I had no one to cry to,” he said.

He stressed that the core message of the single is to remind listeners that kindness is not reserved for the wealthy.

“You don’t need to be as rich as Dangote to put smiles on people’s faces. Kindness should be a habit,” he added.

Beyond its message, Zulu described Sing for Me as a creative departure from his previous works. While his earlier songs leaned heavily towards Afrobeat, the new single explores an RnB sound, which he said showcases his versatility as an artiste.

“My previous songs were Afrobeat-inclined, but this one has an RnB feel. My music has no boundaries or limits, so this song fits perfectly,” he noted.

The singer also hinted at plans to release an Extended Play, EP, in the near future, urging fans to anticipate more projects.

“An EP will come soon enough. Let’s keep our fingers crossed,” he said.

On promotion and distribution, Zulu said he is currently leveraging social media platforms alongside mainstream media to reach a wider audience as he continues to find his footing in the industry.

He, however, admitted that balancing his professional commitments with studio sessions has been challenging.

“Making out time from my busy schedule to go to the studio to record was the most challenging,” he said.

With Sing for Me, Zulu joins a growing list of Nigerian artistes using their craft not only for entertainment but also as a tool for social reflection and value reorientation.
