Why ADC must strategically position itself for 2027 — Adeleke

The Lagos State Treasurer of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Adebola Adeleke, has urged the party to reposition itself strategically ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Adebola called on the National Working Committee, under the leadership of David Mark, as well as coalition partners, to adopt a deliberate and intelligent approach toward winning in 2027.

He stressed that defeating the ruling party would require a clear understanding of its strengths, including grassroots mobilization, funding structures, power blocs, messaging systems, and voter engagement strategies.

According to him, such efforts are not about imitation but strategic positioning.

“We learn in order to outthink, out-organize, and outperform.

“We must remain distinct. Our objective is not to replicate the ruling party, but to present a better alternative. Where they centralize power, we promote inclusion; where they control, we empower; where they rely on structure alone, we build trust with the people.

“The upcoming congress is critical. It must be transparent, inclusive, and strategically managed to unify the party and strengthen internal democracy.

“To Nigerians, 2027 is more than an election; it is a defining moment. Real change will not come from rhetoric, but from discipline, planning, and execution.

“The African Democratic Congress stands as a platform built on shared ownership, where every member from the ward to the national level has a voice and a role. This is a party designed for participation, accountability, and people-driven leadership.

“But structure alone is not enough. Victory will require a strong grassroots presence across all wards and local governments, clear and consistent communication, active community engagement, and trust-building.

“This coalition must become a movement not of convenience, but of conviction. Power is not given; it is earned through organization, credibility, and connection with the people.

“Nigeria deserves leadership that listens, plans, and delivers. With unity, strategy, and determination, we will not just challenge the ruling party, we will replace it. The time to prepare is now. The time to act is now,” he said.
