Southern Kaduna Group calls for fair representation in Zangon Kataf/Jaba

KADUNA – A coalition of Southern Kaduna groups under the Zango-Jaba Youth Assembly for Good Governance (YAGG) has urged fair and inclusive political representation in the Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, the coalition’s chairman, Hon. Bitrus Dabo, emphasised that the call is aimed at promoting unity and harmony, not creating division, through equitable distribution of political offices within the constituency.

He highlighted the long-standing understanding of power rotation between Zangon Kataf and Jaba Local Government Areas as a mechanism to preserve political stability. “In the spirit of equity and mutual respect that has historically guided our constituency, allowing Jaba Local Government Area to retain the House of Representatives seat in the next political cycle will further strengthen unity,” Dabo said.

The coalition noted that while Zangon Kataf Local Government Area has contributed significantly to leadership in the constituency, balance is necessary so all areas feel adequately represented. The group also emphasised that their call should be seen as a push for inclusivity rather than a demand or entitlement.

YAGG further stressed that Jaba has qualified individuals capable of effective representation and that several aspirants have already indicated interest in the position.

The group commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for its inclusivity in appointments and development initiatives, particularly in security and agriculture in Southern Kaduna, but urged the same spirit to be applied to local political arrangements.

The coalition also appealed to Governor Uba Sani to ensure fairness and inclusion in the constituency, stressing that equitable representation would strengthen unity, foster development, and contribute positively to Kaduna State and Nigeria as a whole.
