Nigerian singer and songwriter Sabibwoi, formerly known as Mr V.ic, is boldly embracing a new chapter in his career, marking a significant artistic rebirth and deeper connection to his roots.
Born on July 29 in Afikpo North, Ebonyi State, Sabibwoi is rapidly gaining recognition as one of the most promising voices in Africa’s contemporary music scene. His transition from Mr V.ic to Sabibwoi goes beyond a name change—it symbolizes growth, clarity, and a renewed sense of purpose.
“This name carries my roots, my struggle, my growth, and the global vision I see for myself. I’m not just changing a name; I’m stepping fully into who I was always meant to be,” Sabibwoi said in a recent statement.
Blending Afrobeat, rap, and global influences, Sabibwoi draws inspiration from icons such as Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe, Fela Kuti, Drake, Sarkodie, DaGrin, and Lil Wayne. He began writing rap lyrics at 18 and started recording independently while studying at Federal Polytechnic Oko in Anambra State.
His breakthrough came in 2020 with the single “Blessings,” followed by “Jeje On My Own” in 2021. On December 4, 2021, he released his debut seven-track EP, featuring standout tracks like “Danger,” “Katapot,” “Oroma,” “Echo,” “Blessings,” and an acoustic version of “Blessings.” The project highlighted his versatility, lyrical depth, and sonic range.
Over the past three years, Sabibwoi has collaborated with notable artists including Duncan Mighty and AJEBO Hustlers. As an independent act, he has amassed millions of streams across platforms like Apple Music, Boomplay, Spotify, and Audiomack, steadily building a dedicated global fanbase.
Known for delivering relatable, energetic, and uplifting music, Sabibwoi remains committed to authenticity and cultural resonance. His evolving sound and fearless embrace of identity position him as a rising force in Afro-fusion.
With growing international attention and a clear vision for the future, Sabibwoi is set to become one of Nigeria’s leading voices among the new generation of music stars.
