A group of lawmakers in Ogun State, under the aegis of the Progressive Lawmakers in the Ogun State House of Assembly on Wednesday endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The lawmakers also declared their suppo rt to the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, during the upcoming election.
The lawmakers, comprising 20 out of the 26 members of the Assembly, said their position aligns with the earlier endorsement by the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on behalf of the lawmakers at the Iwe-Iroyin Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, the Majority Leader of the Assembly, Yusuf Sheriff Abiodun, cited the “bold economic reforms and massive infrastructural development” under President Tinubu as justification for their support.
The lawmakers said: “we reaffirm the endorsement already made by the APC in Ogun State in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to return for a second term in 2027, owing to his bold economic reforms and massive infrastructural development across the country.”
The lawmakers noted that the administration had recorded “tremendous steps toward economic stabilisation, fiscal reforms and unprecedented infrastructural development,” particularly in road construction linking key economic corridors nationwide.
According to them, “these achievements underscore Mr President’s commitment to repositioning the nation’s economy and strengthening national infrastructure, making him deserving of another term to consolidate on the gains already recorded.”
The Assembly members also declared their “unalloyed support” for the gubernatorial ambition of Senator Adeola, describing him as a seasoned legislator with a track record of competence and dedication to public service.
“Senator Adeola’s impactful legislative achievements, including his leadership roles in critical committees and advocacy for developmental projects and empowerment initiatives, have distinguished him as a capable leader”.
They added that his experience in lawmaking, oversight and governance positions him to advance the current administration’s “Igbega Ipinle Ogun” development agenda.
On the political future of Governor Dapo Abiodun, the lawmakers expressed confidence in his continued relevance beyond his current tenure, pledging their support for any role he may choose to pursue.
“We expressly declare our support for the incumbent Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, in his next political move after completing his tenure in 2027. His wealth of executive experience and deep understanding of governance will remain invaluable”.
The legislators commended the governor for what they described as significant developmental strides recorded under his leadership, noting that he remains well-positioned to contribute to governance at higher levels.
Reaffirming their loyalty to the APC, the lawmakers pledged continued support for leaders whose vision aligns with the aspirations of the people.
