A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Gbenga Akinwande, has called on political stakeholders in Ogun West Senatorial District to close ranks and support the governorship ambition of Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola ahead of the 2027 election.

Akinwande said unity among stakeholders across the district would help end the long-standing narrative that Ogun West has been unable to produce a governor since the creation of the state over five decades ago.

The former chairmanship aspirant in Yewa North Local Government made the call in Ayetoro, where he appealed to political leaders and residents to build consensus across party lines and rally behind Adeola’s candidacy.

He warned that disunity had, in the past, weakened the district’s chances of clinching the governorship, urging stakeholders not to repeat previous mistakes.

“We must organise and mobilise voters so that our illustrious son, Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola, will be sworn in as the governor of Ogun State on May 29, 2027,” Akinwande said.

“To achieve this objective, everyone in Ogun West must collaborate and work together so that our votes will not be divided. We should not work against one another as we did in the past.

“We must not repeat the mistakes of the past. This is a golden opportunity and must not elude us. If we miss it now, we may not get it again.

“Everybody must come together and unite for Adeola. We cannot continue to tread the path of division and expect success. It is time to seize the moment and rally behind Senator Adeola.”

He also urged residents to continue offering prayers for the nation’s leaders during the holy month of Ramadan and the ongoing Christian Lenten season.

Akinwande specifically called for prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asking God to grant him good health and wisdom to lead the country effectively, as well as for Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun.
