The Concerned Northern Forum (CNF) has called on the Federal Government to ensure steady allocation of crude oil to indigenous refineries across the country, including the Dangote Refinery, as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s energy security.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Mohammed Aliyu, the group said prioritising crude supply to domestic refining facilities would help support local production capacity and enhance stability in the petroleum sector.
The forum noted that Nigeria faces a critical moment in its energy development and must take deliberate steps to maximise the potential of local refining infrastructure in order to safeguard fuel supply and support economic growth.
According to the group, the Dangote Refinery represents a significant industrial investment with a refining capacity of about 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day, making it one of the largest refining complexes in Africa.
The CNF said strengthening crude supply to domestic refineries could help reduce reliance on imported refined petroleum products while encouraging industrial development within the country.
It also noted that expanding the role of local refineries in the energy value chain could contribute to job creation, improved fuel availability and broader economic benefits.
The forum emphasised that consistent crude supply to domestic refining facilities would support efforts aimed at stabilising the petroleum market and strengthening Nigeria’s energy independence.
The group added that prioritising domestic refining capacity remains an important step toward building a more resilient and self-sustaining energy sector for the country.
