Ndume, Zannah visits Maiduguri bomb blasts victims at UMTH

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, and Rt. Hon. Usman Zannah, Member representing Kaga, Magumeri and Gubio Federal Constituency have separately on Thursday visited victims of the recent bomb explosions in Maiduguri who are currently receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) and other health facilities.

Recalled last Monday, tripple suicide bombers struck at Post Office, Monday Market general area and the main entrance of the UMTH Gate, leaving 23 persons dead, with over hundred injured within the metropolis.

The senator, who was in Saudi Arabia performing 2026 Lesser Hajj at the time of the incidents, returned to Maiduguri and drove straight to commiserate with those affected.

At the UMTH Trauma Centre, the Senator moved across multiple wards, engaging directly with victims and their families, offering comforting words and solidarity over what he described as a “deeply painful moment” for the state.

Ndume urged the victims to remain steadfast and accept the situation as the will of Allah, while encouraging resilience in the face of adversity.

He also extended his sympathies to bereaved families, acknowledging the profound loss suffered by the community.

Medical personnel on duty briefed the senator on the condition of the patients, assuring him that many of the injured ones were responding positively to treatment due to prompt medical intervention.

In addition to moral support, Senator Ndume provided financial assistance to victims and their families to cushion the immediate burden of medical and related expenses.

Likewise, Rt. Hon. Usman Zannah, who is also the Chairman House Committtee on North East Development Commission (NEDC) during his sympathy visit at UMTH exppressd shock over the incident.

He prayed Allah (God) to grant Eternal Rest to the souls of the departed and wished the injured ones quick recovery.

While appreciating all and sundry for their prayers and support to the victims and their families, Zannah called on well-to-do individuals to come to the aid of the victims and their families at this trying period.

He also offer his support to the victims, even as he commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Vice-President, Senator Kashim Shettima who visited UMTH yesterday (Wednesday) and sympathized with the victims responding to treatment.

He equally commend the Borno State Government under the leadership of Governor Babagana Zulum for the support provided to the victims and families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incidents.

The Lawmaker also commend the Management and staff of UMTH, State Specialist Hospital and Umaru Shehu UltraModern Hospital for their unwavering sacrifices in saving lives, as most of the victims were admitted there, some treated and discharged.

Zannah thanked members of the general public, especially the rescue teams such as military, police, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force among other government agencies who played a greater role in safeguarding lives during and after the blasts.

He then advised citizens to avoid crowded areas and promptly reports any suspicious movement to security agencies, especially during the Ramadan Kareem/ Eid El- Fitr Sallah celebrations. End
