The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has appealed to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to consider its past leaders running for elective positions to stand as its flag bearers.

The call was made on Thursday by the Vice President for National Affairs, Comrade Tenyo Digbopho, at an endorsement programme held in Kokori Community, Ethiope East Local Government of Delta State, to support the immediate past National President of the association, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, who is currently aspiring to the House of Representatives seat to represent Ethiope Federal Constituency.

The NANS Vice President said it is important for the ruling party to support the association’s leaders who have served meritoriously as executives of the apex student body, as the nation cannot afford to lose their wealth of experience.

“Leaders who have passed through the ranks of the National Association of Nigerian Students have demonstrated courage, leadership capacity, and a deep understanding of the challenges facing young people across the country. Supporting former student leaders seeking elective positions would not only strengthen democratic participation but also lure many students to vote for the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections, and everyone knows the importance of having student votes,” Tenyo stated.

He added that Comrade Emonefe, having served diligently as National President of NANS, possesses the leadership qualities, experience, and grassroots connection required to effectively represent the people of Ethiope Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

The NANS leader therefore called on the All Progressives Congress to recognise the contributions of its former leaders and give them the opportunity to serve at higher levels of governance for the benefit of the people and the nation at large.
