..threatens Legal Action
By Anayo Okoli
An Onitsha-based lawyer, Chuka Obele-Chuka, has written to the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Adesola Aina, requesting the names and ranks of officers involved in the detention of his client, Chief Chukwuka Osisioma.
The lawyer warned that he would pursue legal action if the information is not provided.
According to Obele-Chuka, his client was detained at Rain Oil Fuel Station, Koka Junction, Asaba, and subsequently held at the CP-Decoy Unit. In the letter, the lawyer cited the Freedom of Information Act in requesting the identities of the officers involved to allow him to pursue appropriate legal remedies on behalf of his client.
The lawyer asked that the information be provided within seven days of receipt of the letter, noting that failure to comply would result in legal action.
The Delta State Police Command has not yet issued a response to the request.
