Port Harcourt — Professional colleagues and well-wishers gathered at the Hotel Presidential’s banquet hall in Port Harcourt to pay their last respects to the late Chief Frank Tamuno-Koko, a distinguished public relations expert.
Notable personalities at the event included Information Minister Alhaji Mohammed Idris, NIPR President Dr. Ike Neliaku, and former NIPR President Mallam Mukhtar Sirajo.
The Information Minister, represented by Sirajo, described Tamuno-Koko as a dedicated professional whose wisdom and guidance shaped the careers of younger PR practitioners. Idris noted, “He played a critical role in nurturing the ethical foundations that continue to sustain the profession today.
His contributions were not limited to titles or positions but reflected in the quiet influence he exercised, those he mentored, and the respect he commanded across the communication industry.”
Dr. Ike Neliaku extolled Tamuno-Koko’s life of sacrifice, impact, and selflessness, saying his legacy would endure. “People may be sad, rightly so, but I am not. At 77, Tamuno-Koko fulfilled his mission on earth. Instead of mourning, we should celebrate a man whose legacy will remain with us,” he said.
Other speakers, including Dr. Jossy Nkwocha, Head of Corporate Communications at Indorama Eleme Ltd, recalled Tamuno-Koko’s relentless pursuit of excellence and his positive influence on their careers.
The event highlighted the lasting mark Tamuno-Koko left on Nigeria’s public relations industry.
