The Innocent Chigozie Nzegwu Foundation (ICN Foundation), a global philanthropic organisation, has intensified efforts to empower youths and uplift underserved communities across Nigeria through targeted interventions in health, education and economic development.

The foundation, which is focused on creating opportunities for sustainable livelihoods, said its initiatives are aimed at addressing critical gaps in access to quality education, healthcare, entrepreneurship and social inclusion, particularly among vulnerable populations.

Founder of the foundation, Mr. Innocent Chigozie Nzegwu, emphasised that investing in young people remains key to driving sustainable development across the continent.

“Africa’s greatest strength lies in its youth. At ICN Foundation, we are committed to equipping young Africans with the tools, opportunities and support systems they need to succeed. When we empower young people, we unlock the potential for lasting transformation across communities,” he said.
In recent months, the foundation has rolled out a series of community-based programmes with measurable impact. Among them is a medical outreach initiative that has delivered free health screenings, consultations and medications to underserved groups, including children, adults and the elderly.

In the education sector, ICN Foundation has supported pupils in disadvantaged communities through the distribution of books, writing materials and school kits, a move it said has contributed to improved school attendance and learning conditions.

The organisation has also prioritised economic empowerment by introducing youth skills development programmes focused on digital literacy, basic entrepreneurship and vocational training, aimed at promoting self-reliance among young people.

Beyond this, the foundation has carried out humanitarian interventions, including food distribution and relief support for vulnerable families affected by economic hardship. It has also implemented community health awareness and sanitation campaigns to promote hygiene, disease prevention and environmental cleanliness.

Co-Founder and Secretary of the foundation, Mrs. Ifunaya Maureen Anusi, said the organisation is focused on long-term, sustainable impact rather than short-term assistance.

“Our focus is not only on immediate support but on creating lasting change. We are intentional about empowering individuals with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to build better futures. ICN Foundation is about restoring hope and creating real opportunities for young Africans to thrive,” she said.

She added that the foundation is seeking collaboration with government agencies, private sector stakeholders and development partners to expand its programmes and reach more communities nationwide.

The ICN Foundation noted that its people-centred approach continues to drive its mission of building a future where Nigerian youths are equipped to overcome socio-economic barriers and contribute meaningfully to national development.
