*Recounts her story of divine providence ahead of her birthday
By Benjamin Njoku
Diana Nyeche’s story is one of miraculous survival and divine providence. Born against all odds, Diana’s life is a testament to the power of faith and determination. Few days before her birth, her father’s violent outburst against her mother almost cost Diana her life, with doctors concluding that the unborn baby had been lost due to the trauma.
However, in a stunning turn of events, Diana defied expectations and was born alive, crying loudly as if to announce her arrival. This miraculous survival set the tone for Diana’s life, as she continued to thrive and make a name for herself in her acting career.
Her birthday on March 13, will be a celebration of life and resilience. To mark the occasion, Diana is releasing her new movie, “Bitter Survival”, on Instagram and YouTube on March 12, calling it her “birth month of uncommon grace.” Despite facing numerous setbacks, she has remained steadfast, proving her doubters wrong time and again.
Meanwhile, the pain of being underrated by people still lingers. She recalls her early days in Nollywood, where she’d often feel belittled by industry insiders.
“I remember going to Asaba to look for an acting job, and a director looked down on me because I didn’t arrive at the location in my own car,” she shares. “I begged him to give me a chance, but he shunned me. It really hurt and I felt like I wasn’t good enough.”
But Diana’s determination wouldn’t let her give up. She worked hard, and eventually, she showed up at a location in style with two cars. The director’s reaction was priceless. “He was shocked, couldn’t believe his eyes. From that moment, he started being friendly with me,” she recalls with a hint of satisfaction.
Diana’s experience has made her aware of the harsh realities of the industry. “Talented actors are often frustrated out of Nollywood because they can’t make it,” she says. “When you don’t have a car or anything to offer, they tend to look down on you. That’s just how it is .”
