Chinedu Daniel Akanigwo, better known online as HairbyHairboy, is emerging as one of Nigeria’s promising young content creators, using social media to grow his hair-selling business and build a growing digital audience.
Born on November 4, 2001, in Lagos, HairbyHairboy launched his hair venture in 2016 and began actively promoting it on social media in 2022. His initial TikTok posts, created to boost visibility for his business, quickly evolved into full-time content creation.
“I started the hair business for survival because I lost my father when I was nine years old,” he shared in a recent interview, highlighting the personal circumstances that drove his entrepreneurial path.
Educated at Prime Foundation Primary School and Busy Brain Secondary School in Lagos, he drew inspiration from top TikTok creators including Peller, Jadrolita, JoBlaq, Crispal, and Edo Boy Billions. Despite facing significant challenges when entering the online space in 2022, he stayed committed to refining his content.
His posts—focused on high-quality hair sales, lifestyle, and creative skits—have connected with viewers, helping him transition from a small-scale business owner to a recognised digital figure. He gained commercial traction on TikTok in 2025 before expanding to Instagram and Facebook.
HairbyHairboy’s long-term vision is clear.
“My ultimate goal is to become a leading hair vendor in the industry,” he stated.
As Nigeria’s digital media space continues to grow rapidly—with TikTok’s short-form videos and powerful algorithm fuelling massive engagement—young creators like HairbyHairboy represent the new wave of talent turning passion and necessity into viable careers.
His journey underscores the expanding opportunities for entrepreneurship and creative expression through social media among young Nigerians, positioning him as an emerging name in the country’s dynamic creator economy.
