Hilda Bassey speaks on impact, transformation at Pastor Idowu’s birthday celebration

Nigerian chef and restaurateur Hilda Bassey has spoken about the personal and spiritual impact of Pastor Bolaji Idowu during his birthday celebration, describing his influence as transformative.

Bassey made the remarks at an event organised in honour of the cleric of Harvesters International Christian Centre, where tributes from members and associates highlighted his leadership and mentorship.

“He has taught me so much and I’m very grateful. I feel truly blessed to have crossed paths with you,” she said.

Reflecting on her journey within the church, Bassey credited Idowu with shaping her spiritual growth and personal development. She noted that her experience at Harvesters had deepened her understanding of faith, relationships and self-improvement.

“Since coming to Harvesters, I’ve learned so much — about my walk with God, about relationships, and about becoming a better person,” she said.

Bassey said the pastor’s willingness to serve and his openness to being used for ministry had influenced many lives, including hers. According to her, his impact extends beyond preaching, touching on everyday guidance and support for members.

“You have changed so many lives, mine included. I don’t take this for granted, and I’m honestly thankful for you,” she added.

She also highlighted the sense of accessibility and support within the church community, noting that members are able to reach out and receive guidance when needed.

“It feels reassuring to know there is someone you can reach at any time to share your burdens, someone who is praying for you,” she said.

Bassey further offered prayers for Idowu, asking for continued divine guidance, strength and blessings for his family. She expressed hope that his children would continue to make him proud.

“I pray that God will continue to use you and bless you, and that your children will continue to bring you joy,” she said.
