Delta Guber: Edewor gets boost as Eruse, YPP stakeholders rally support

A former House of Assembly candidate in Ethiope East, Honourable Godwin Eruse, has thrown his weight behind Chief Ogheneovo Edewor for the governorship of Delta State, declaring that the electorate is poised to unseat the incumbent in the next election.

Eruse, who spoke at a press briefing shortly after a meeting of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, in Asaba, urged Edewor to formally declare his intention to contest the state’s top seat, citing what he described as growing public demand for a new leadership direction.

According to him, the prevailing political climate and voter strength across the state present a viable opportunity for a power shift, stressing that Deltans are eager for improved governance and inclusive development.

“The voters’ numbers are there to defeat the incumbent. What Delta State needs at this point is a new chapter of leadership that prioritises the welfare of the people and delivers good governance,” Eruse said.
He described Edewor, a member of the party’s Board of Trustees and former senatorial candidate, as a tested leader with a strong grasp of the state’s socio-economic challenges, noting that his track record in public service stands him out as a credible alternative.

“Chief Edewor possesses the leadership capacity, experience and vision required to drive development and unity in Delta State. He understands the needs of the people and has consistently demonstrated commitment to their aspirations,” he added.

Eruse further disclosed that support for Edewor’s potential candidacy has continued to gain momentum within the party and among grassroots stakeholders across the 25 local government areas of the state.
Other members of the party, who spoke at the briefing, also endorsed Edewor, describing him as a leader with widespread acceptance and a loyal support base.

They noted that his sustained engagement with communities and ability to mobilise support across the state have positioned him as a formidable contender.

“Chief Edewor understands the pulse of Delta State. He has built a strong network of loyalists across the 25 local government areas, which is a testament to his leadership style and grassroots appeal,” one of the party members said.

The endorsements, according to party insiders, signal early political alignments ahead of the governorship race, as stakeholders within the YPP intensify consultations aimed at strengthening the party’s chances in the state.
