The Yayi Progressives Movement in Ogun State has said the All Progressives Congress, APC, is gaining fresh momentum following the defection of opposition lawmakers into the party, describing it as a sign of growing unity and strength.

Convener of the movement, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, in a statement, also congratulated President Bola Tinubu, the newly elected National Chairman of the party, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and other members of the National Working Committee, NWC, on the successful conduct of the party’s convention.
Akintunde noted that the influx of opposition members into the Ogun State House of Assembly underscores the rising acceptance of the APC in the state.

According to him, “what we are witnessing in Ogun State today, especially within the House of Assembly, is a clear reflection of the growing confidence in the APC and its leadership.”

He commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for what he described as steady and inclusive leadership, saying it has continued to attract more supporters to the ruling party.

The APC chieftain also lauded President Tinubu’s leadership, noting that the party has continued to witness expansion across the country.

“This is another defining moment for our party. The APC is not only consolidating but also expanding, with increasing membership and nationwide support,” he said.

Akintunde further praised the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide, and national delegates from the state who participated in the party’s 8th National Convention held at Eagle Square, Abuja.

In a related development, the State Coordinator of the Yayi Progressives Movement, Olusegun Kaka, described the convention as a success, adding that recent developments in Ogun State reflect strengthening cohesion within the party.

“What we are seeing is unity and steady progress. The developments in the Assembly clearly show that the APC remains the preferred platform in the state,” Kaka said.

The movement reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots mobilisation, party unity and support for policies aimed at sustaining development in Ogun State.
