D.Y.T.M woos Arewa community in Asaba, seeks political partnership

The Delta Youth Transformation Movement (D.Y.T.M) has reiterated its commitment to unity, inclusive governance, and political consolidation following an Iftar (breaking of fast) meeting with members of the Arewa community in Asaba.

The delegation, led by the President of the group, Sir Isioma Melekwe, including BOT member Iloba Onyeka Stephen, Welfare Officer Inari Omesiri (Great), Organizing Secretary Edegware Usiwo (Respect), Public Relations Officer Gold Collins, and other members.

They were received by the Sarki and Chairman of the Northern Traditional Council in Delta State, Alhaji Ibrahim Baba Gero, alongside key Arewa leaders such as Salisu Garba (Dan Maliki), Ibrahim Musa (Tafida), Hon. Bawa Abdullahi (Wambai), Yusuf Z. Musa (Dan Amana), and Muhammad Baba Gero (Turaki).

The meeting, which featured the sharing of food and drinks with Muslim faithful, was aimed at promoting peace, unity, and religious harmony among residents of the state. It also served as a platform to strengthen inter-ethnic relationships.

Speaking at the event, Melekwe said the visit was not only social but also strategic in fostering political collaboration with the Arewa community.

He commended the achievements of Delta State Governor under the M.O.R.E Agenda, citing improvements in road infrastructure, urban renewal, youth empowerment, and security. According to him, the policies of the administration have positively impacted all residents, including the Northern community.

He called for continued support for the state government, stressing the need for political continuity to sustain ongoing development efforts. He also urged alignment with national leadership to ensure greater dividends of democracy.


In his remarks, Alhaji Ibrahim Baba Gero commended the group for identifying with the Muslim community through the Iftar engagement.

He acknowledged the strides of the state government in infrastructure and peacebuilding, noting that the impact of governance is visible across communities.
The Sarki expressed confidence in the country’s leadership and pledged to mobilize support across the state. He said traditional rulers under his council would work across the 25 local government areas to galvanize support in future political engagements.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment to collaboration between youth groups and traditional institutions in promoting peace, development, and political stability in Delta State.
